- Família Carcharodontosauridae
L'any 1998 Paul Sereno va definir els carcarodontosàurids com un clade, consistent en el carcarodontosaure i totes les espècies més emparentades amb ell que amb l'al·losaure, Sinraptor, monolofosaure, o criolofosaure. Així doncs, aquest clade és per definició fora del clade dels al·losàurids.
El cladograma següent següeix l'anàlisi de Brusatte et al., 2009,[3] encara que l'emplaçament de Neovenator s'ha revist des d'aleshores, situant-lo fora però proper als carcarodontosàurids, en els neovenatòrids.[4]
