Descripció modifica

  • Fa 15 cm de llargària màxima (normalment, en fa 8,4).[2][3][4]

Reproducció modifica

Fa la posta a la primavera i el mascle s'encarrega de protegir els ous dipositats per diferents femelles.[5][6]

Alimentació modifica

Menja larves d'insectes aquàtics, crustacis, anèl·lids, peixos, ous de peixos i matèria vegetal.[7]

Hàbitat modifica

És un peix d'aigua dolça, demersal i de clima temperat (59°N-34°N).[2][8]

Distribució geogràfica modifica

Es troba a Nord-amèrica: el Canadà i els Estats Units.[2][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26]

Observacions modifica

És inofensiu per als humans.[2]
