Morfologia modifica

Alimentació modifica

Menja plantes aquàtiques, detritus, insectes i d'altres invertebrats.[4]

Depredadors modifica

És depredat per Channa argus warpachowskii, Elopichthys bambusa, Luciobrama typus, Esox lucius, Stizostedion lucioperca, Siniperca chuatsi, Silurus asotus, Micropterus salmoides, Ardeola schistaceus, Sinonatrix piscator i Enhydris chinensis.[5]

Hàbitat modifica

És un peix d'aigua dolça i de clima subtropical.[4]

Distribució geogràfica modifica

Es troba a Àsia: des de la Xina fins a la Sibèria oriental (conca del riu Amur), tot i que ha estat introduït arreu del món.[4][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30][31][32][33][34][35][36][37][38][39][40][41]

Ús gastronòmic modifica

És venut fresc i es menja al vapor, fregit, rostit o enfornat.[42]

Observacions modifica

És considerat una plaga a la majoria dels països a causa dels danys que provoca a la vegetació submergida.[43]
