Es troba a Nord-amèrica: el Canadà (entre d'altres, el Quebec, Alberta[2] i Ontario),[3][4][5] els Estats Units (com ara, Alabama,[6] Arkansas, Virgínia,[7] Tennessee,[8] Geòrgia, Carolina del Nord, Vermont, Maryland, Nova York, Texas,[9][10] Minnesota, Illinois,[11] Iowa, Dakota del Nord, Wisconsin,[12] Oklahoma, Kentucky, Florida, Louisiana, Missouri[13][14] i Mississipi)[15] i Mèxic,[16] incloent-hi les conques dels Grans Llacs d'Amèrica del Nord, de la badia de Hudson i dels rius Mississippí,[17] Roanoke, Lerma, Potomac, Apalachicola i Ohio.[18][19][20][21][22]
