Triconòtids

Els triconòtids (Trichonotidae) constitueixen una família de peixos marins pertanyent a l'ordre dels perciformes, la qual té un sol gènere (Trichonotus) i 9 espècies.[1] L'espècie tipus n'és Trichonotus setiger.[2]

Etimologia modifica

Del grec thrix, -ikos (cabell) i noton (esquena).[3]

Descripció modifica

  • Cos molt allargat, quelcom comprimit i recobert d'escates cicloides.
  • Línia lateral contínua, amb 55-57 escates i estenent-se al llarg de la línia mitjana dels flancs.
  • Membranes branquiòstegues separades (no unides a l'istmus).
  • Boca fesa, terminal, amb la mandíbula superior una mica protràctil, la inferior prominent i amb dents agudes als maxil·lars, els palatins i el vòmer.
  • Ulls en posició dorsal.
  • Aleta dorsal de base allargada i amb 45-47 radis (el primer, el segon i el tercer no articulats, filiformes i, més o menys, perllongats en els mascles).
  • Aleta anal una mica més curta que la dorsal i amb 37-39 radis tous.
  • Aletes pectorals petites, pèlviques amb una espina i 5 radis tous i caudal amb 11-12 radis ramificats.[4][5]

Alimentació modifica

Es nodreixen de zooplàncton.[5]

Hàbitat i distribució geogràfica modifica

Es troben a l'Índic i el Pacífic occidental:[6][7] des del mar Roig[8][9] i el golf Pèrsic[10][11] fins a les illes Seychelles,[12] Maurici,[13][14] Reunió,[15][14] Durban (Sud-àfrica),[16][17] Oman,[18][19] les illes Maldives,[20] la badia de Bengala, la Xina,[21] Taiwan[22] (incloent-hi les illes Pescadors),[23] el Japó[24] (com ara, les illes Ryukyu[25] i Ogasawara),[26] Indonèsia,[27][28][29] les illes Filipines,[30] Papua Nova Guinea,[31][32][33][34] Fiji, el mar del Corall[35] (com ara, les illes Chesterfield)[36] i el nord d'Austràlia.[37][38][39][40][41][42][5][4][43]
