L'Assemblea d'Hokkaidō (北海道議会, Hokkaidō Gikai) és l'organ legislatiu d'Hokkaidō.

Els seus 100 membres són elegits mitjançant un sistema de vot únic no transferible en 47 demarcacions electorals.

L'assemblea és responsable de redactar i aprovar les lleis prefecturals, d'aprovar els pressupostos i de votar importants nomenaments del governador, inclosos els vice-governadors.

Història modifica

L'Assemblea es va fundar l'any 1901 i en març d'aquell mateix any es va promulgar la Llei d'Hokkaido i la llei de despesa local d'Hokkaido. El 10 d'agost d'aquell any se celebraren les primeres eleccions prefecturals on es triarien 35 diputats amb un termini de mandat de 3 anys. El 21 d'octubre de 1901, dia de l'obertura de la primera legislatura d'Hokkaido, els membres de l'assemblea es reunixen en el camp d'esports de l'escola secundària de Sapporo.

L'Any 1947 amb la nova llei d'autonomia local en vigor se celebren les primeres eleccions de la postguerra el 30 d'abril d'aquell any, els membres a elegir són 81. El 3 de maig s'aplica definitivament la llei d'autonomia local i la constitució, canviant el nom de l'institució de "Assemblea d'Hokkaido" (北海道会, Hokkaidō Kai) a "Parlament d'Hokkaido" (北海道議会, Hokkaidō Gikai) tot i que en les traduccions a les llengües estrangeres es manté el nom d'assemblea.

L'Any 1952, coincidint amb el 50 aniversari de l'establiment de la cambra legislativa s'inaugura la nova seu de l'Assemblea d'Hokkaidō.
