Cesare Emiliani (8 de desembre de 1922 - 20 de juliol de 1995) va ser un geòleg italià, i molt reconegut micropaleontólogo i isotopista geoquímic, fundador de la paleo-oceanografia.

Emiliani va néixer a Bolonya, Itàlia, i els seus pares van ser Luigi i Maria (Manfredidi) Emiliani. Va morir a Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, EUA.

Juntament amb Roger Revelle i molts altres va desenvolupar activament el programa JOIDES que es va basar en el projecte original LOCO (LOng COres).

Va ser un científic a l'estil del renaixement - políglota i home molt llegit - i adversari militant de postures dogmàtiques com també de tota rigidesa mental. Era per aquest motiu que en els seus últims anys va consagrar molt de temps a despertar interès per una reforma del calendari - sentant com origen l'holocè. La seva ambició era eliminar el hiat entre l'escala aC i l'escala dC. Aquest és igual a 1 any perquè cada escala té un any origen 1 com a conseqüència de la definició del Calendari Gregorià.
