Poc després Tuzun feia cegar al califa ([[11 d'octubre]] del [[944]]) i el declarava deposat instal·lant al seu lloc a al-Mustakfí de 41 anys. Tuzun no va viure gaire temps més però el califa va viure fins el juliol del [[968]].
