La seua fama era inqüestionable quan va realitzar el tema bíblic ''El festí de Baltasar'' el [[1821]]. Així mateix, és digne de recordar altres impressionants obres seues com ''El Paradís perdut'' (estampes que il·lustren el poema de [[John Milton]]).<ref name="Gran Enciclopèdia Catalana"></ref> També, cal esmentar els seus [[aiguafort]]s sobre [[dinosaure]]s, on es va esforçar per recrear el més fidelment el seu possible hàbitat.<ref name="Ciudad de la Pintura"></ref>
