A part d'aquests grans dialectes, existeixen moltes altres [[Variació lingüística|variants]] de l'anglès, que inclouen, en la majoria dels casos, diverses subvariants, com ara el [[cockney]], [[scouse]] i [[geordie]] a l'[[anglès britànic]]; l'anglès és una [[llengua pluricèntrica]], sense una autoritat central com a llengua, a diferència del que passa a França amb l{{'}}''[[Académie française]]'' o a Catalunya amb l'[[Institut d'Estudis Catalans]]; i per tant cap varietat es considera "correcta" o "incorrecta", excepte pel que fa a les expectatives de l'audiència en particular als que es dirigeix l'idioma.
