===Origen del nom===

Des dels inicis de la telefonia mòbil s'havien desenvolupat concepcions i prototips que combinaven funcions pròpies dels ordinadors. L'any 1994 IBM va comercialitzar el seu model ''Simon'' amb pantalla tàctil i algunes funcions pròpies dels ordinadors.
