La producció original de 1960, dirigida per [[Moss Hart]] amb orquestracions de [[Robert Russell Bennett]] i [[Philip J. Lang]], va representar-se a [[teatre de Broadway|Broadway]] en 873 actuacions, guanyant quatre [[premis Tony]], tenint diversos revivals, produccions estrangeres i una [[Camelot (pel·lícula)|adaptació cinematogràfica]] de [[Warner Bros]] del 1967 . El musical s'ha associat a l'[[John F. Kennedy|Administració Kennedy]], que a vegades s'ha anomenat "Era de Camelot".
