Aquesta fotografia és de domini públic a Itàlia ja que els drets han caducat. Segons la llei núm. 633, de 22 d'abril de 1941 i revisions posteriors, les imatges genèriques sense caràcter artístic (de persones o panoràmiques de la vida pública), obtinguts mitjançant procés fotogràfic o amb un mètode anàleg, incloent reproduccions d'art figuratiu i fotogrames de pel·lícules cinematogràfiques (Art. 87) passen a ser de domini públic a partir de l'inici de l'any natural següent al compliment de vint anys des de la seva data de creació (Art. 92). Aquesta disposició no s'aplica a les fotografies d'escrits, documents, papers de negocis, objectes materials, dibuixos tècnics i productes similars (Art. 87). La llei italiana fa una distinció important entre "obres d'art fotogràfic" i "simples fotografies" (Art. 2, § 7). Les obres d'art fotogràfic estan protegides durant 70 anys després de la mort de l'artista (Art. 32 bis), mentre que les simples fotografies estan protegides per un període de 20 anys a partir de la creació.
