сучасний герб міста Ромни І. Опис герба Щит французської форми, поділений горизонтально двома золотавими стрічками на три частини, з яких: у верхній на чорному тлі напис “Ромни” золотими буквами; в середині на червоному полі квітки ромену (ромен-цвіту, ромашки), центр якої має форму шестерні; в нижній золоті коромисляні терези на зеленому тлі. ІІ. Символіка герба

Квітка ромен з білими пелюстками, обведеними золотавим контуром символізує легенду про те, як від назви квітки отримало своє ім’я місто Ромни; золота шестерня відображає сучасний промисловий розвиток; терези – данина історичним ярмарковим традиціям. Золотий (жовтий) колір символізує багатство, спрведливість, великодушність; червоний – хоробрість, мужність, безстрашність наших предків-захисників рідної землі; зелений – символ надії, радості, достатку; чорний – символ журби, смутку, скорботи з приводу трагічних подій в історії міста. Автор герба М.М.Колосов. Сучасний герб міста Ромни затверджений рішенням двадцять першої сесії Роменської міської ради ІІІ скликання від 18.05.01
