English: The Market Hall, Hereford This is the frontage in High Town - a deplorable Victorian replacement for the former market place beneath the Old Town Hall said by Pevsner, to be "a sight to thrill any visitor from England or abroad. It was the most fantastic black and white building imaginable, three-storeyed, with gables and the richest, most curious decoration." This building was destroyed in 1862 in the interests of hygiene and traffic flow! |
