Morfologia modifica

Alimentació modifica

Menja poliquets, petits crustacis i mol·luscs.[4]

Depredadors modifica

És depredat per Trachurus mediterraneus,[5] Gnathophis mystax, a Itàlia per Trisopterus minutus[6] i l'escórpora fosca (Scorpaena porcus),[7] i a l'Estat espanyol pel lluç (Merluccius merluccius), Ophichthus rufus,[8] la bruixa de quatre taques (Lepidorhombus boscii), la bruixa sense taques (Lepidorhombus whiffiagonis) i Chelidonichthys lucernus.[9]

Hàbitat modifica

És un peix marí, de clima subtropical i demersal que viu entre 10-130 m de fondària.[2][10]

Distribució geogràfica modifica

Es troba a l'Atlàntic oriental (Mauritània i des de la península Ibèrica fins a Skagerrak i Kattegat) i la Mediterrània (Mar de Màrmara).[2][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30][31]

Costums modifica

Es troba sovint associat amb el crustaci decàpode Nephrops norvegicus.[32]

Observacions modifica

És inofensiu per als humans.[2]
