Marcusenius angolensis és una espècie de peix pertanyent a la família dels mormírids i a l'ordre dels osteoglossiformes.[4][5]

Etimologia modifica
Marcusenius fa referència a l'alemany Johann Marcusen[6] (el primer ictiòleg a estudiar els mormírids de forma sistemàtica),[7] mentre que l'epítet angolensis al·ludeix a Angola.
Descripció modifica
Fa 13,5 cm de llargària màxima.[2]
Hàbitat i distribució geogràfica modifica
És un peix d'aigua dolça, demersal, potamòdrom[8] i de clima tropical,[6] el qual viu a Àfrica:[9] les planes d'inundació amb vegetació riberenca[10] dels rius Cuanza,[11] Cunene[11][12] i el curs superior del Zambezi[13] a Angola,[13][11][14] i el riu Kasai[15][16] i el curs mitjà del riu Congo[17][15][18] a la República Democràtica del Congo.[15][19] És possible que també habiti el llac Pool Malebo.[20][21][3][6]
Observacions modifica
És inofensiu per als humans,[6] forma part de la dieta humana local,[10] el seu índex de vulnerabilitat és baix (12 de 100)[22] i la seua principal amenaça és la possible construcció de preses al riu Cuanza, la qual cosa alteraria els seus patrons de migració i l'estabilitat de la vegetació del seu hàbitat.[10]
