Descripció modifica

  • Pot arribar a fer 10 cm de llargària màxima.
  • 13-19 radis tous a l'aleta dorsal i 16-27 a l'anal.[5][6]

Reproducció modifica

Al llac Volta té lloc entre el setembre i el juliol.[5]

Alimentació modifica

Menja insectes terrestres i aquàtics, ostracodes i larves de peixos.[7]

Depredadors modifica

A Nigèria és depredat per Hydrocynus forskalii i Lates niloticus, a Ghana per Schilbe mystusi i Cynothrissa mento, i a la Costa d'Ivori per Elops lacerta.[8]

Hàbitat modifica

És un peix d'aigua dolça, salabrosa i marina; pelàgic-nerític; anàdrom[9] i de clima tropical (17°N-5°S).[5]

Distribució geogràfica modifica

Es troba a Àfrica: des del Senegal fins al Camerun i la República Democràtica del Congo.[5][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25]

Costums modifica

És principalment nocturn.[5]

Observacions modifica

És inofensiu per als humans.[5]
