  • Pot arribar a fer 20 cm de llargària màxima.
  • Cos comprimit, de color marró i amb 6-8 franges verticals negres.
  • Boca petita i només lleument protràctil.
  • Línia lateral interrompuda.[3][4]

Alimentació modifica

Menja algues filamentoses, plantes terrestres submergides, fruits, llavors, insectes aquàtics i crustacis.[5]

Hàbitat modifica

És un peix d'aigua dolça, potamòdrom,[6] demersal i de clima tropical (23 °C-28 °C), el qual viu als camps inundats, llacs, llacunes, pantans i rius mitjans i grans. Realitza migracions des del riu Mekong fins a les planes d'inundació durant la temporada d'inundacions.[7][8][3][9][10][11]

Distribució geogràfica modifica

Es troba al riu Maeklong,[12] les conques dels rius Mekong[13][14] i Chao Phraya a la península de Malacca i, també, a Sumatra i Borneo.[15][3][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30][31][32][33][34][35][36] [37]

Observacions modifica

És inofensiu per als humans i forma part del comerç de peixos d'aquari.[3]
