Syncomistes butleri és una espècie de peix pertanyent a la família dels terapòntids.^[3]

Descripció modifica

Pot arribar a fer 28 cm de llargària màxima.^[4]^[5]

Reproducció modifica

Assoleix la maduresa sexual en arribar als 20-22 cm de llargària i es reprodueix entre el novembre i el desembre (quan la temperatura de l'aigua augmenta al voltant dels 29 °C).^[6]

Alimentació modifica

És herbívor^[7] i es nodreix d'algues.^[4]

Depredadors modifica

És depredat per la barramunda catàdroma (Lates calcarifer).^[8]^[9]

Hàbitat modifica

És un peix d'aigua dolça, bentopelàgic i de clima temperat.^[4]

Distribució geogràfica modifica

És un endemisme d'Austràlia.^[4]^[10]
