Morfologia modifica

Pot assolir 18 cm de longitud total,[6] encara que la seua mida normal és de 12.[7][8]

Reproducció modifica

Hom creu que té lloc a l'abril i el maig.[9]

Alimentació modifica

Menja plantes i larves de quironòmids.[9]

Hàbitat modifica

És un peix d'aigua dolça, demersal i de clima temperat (39°N-37°N).[8]

Distribució geogràfica modifica

Es troba als Estats Units: les conques fluvials atlàntiques de Virgínia[10][11] i Virgínia Occidental[12] des del riu Potomac fins al riu Roanoke.[13][14][15][4][16][8][7]

Observacions modifica

És inofensiu per als humans[8] i la seua longevitat és de 7 anys.[7]
