Object

To make the cawiki infoboxes show the information in any language known by WD.

The main objectives are:

• Facilitate the process of installing cawiki infoboxes in other WPs
• Display the content of an infobox in user languages within certain cawiki spaces, such as the sample pages of their documentation.

Previous stages

In 2015, taking advantage of the possibilities of WD that was in an early phase, cawiki started a project to incorporate WD accesses into the infoboxes.

This project faced hundreds of infoboxes that managed very specific aspects (professions, country regions, types of buildings, etc.).

Thus, the first phase of the project consisted of integrating many templates into a few "core infoboxes" that are prepared to handle the different casuistry of few major topics: people, organizations, political geography, buildings, living organisms, chemical compound, etc ...

In 2016, EUWIKI was interested in our model and decides to adapt it to its articles. In addition, it collects the operations carried out in the form of an installation guide to help other WPs that may be interested.

By the end of 2017, the result of the project was presented at the fifth edition of the WikidataCon in Berlin, highlighting the interest that migration of these tools might have to other WPs, following the example of EUWIKI. In the 2018 WikiHackathon, in Barcelona, ​​the project was presented again, emphasizing that 75% of all articles in CAWIKI have an infobox with WD.

Main directions

• Get the label and other infoboxes text descriptions from label wikidata description

• Get the WD content in the selected language

• Convert units and dates depending on languages

• Adapt the global look to language requirement, as Right to Left (RTL)
