Boulengerochromis microlepis és una espècie de peix de la família dels cíclids i de l'ordre dels perciformes,[2] i la més grossa dels cíclids africans.[3]

Reproducció modifica

Els adults es reprodueixen a la zona litoral.[7]

Alimentació modifica

Els joves són omnívors i els adults principalment piscívors.[7]

Hàbitat modifica

Viu en zones de clima tropical entre 24 °C - 26 °C de temperatura.[8]

Distribució geogràfica modifica

Es troba a Àfrica: és una espècie de peix endèmica del llac Tanganyika, incloent-hi Burundi, la República Democràtica del Congo, Tanzània i Zàmbia.[7][9][10][11][12][13][4]

Interès gastronòmic modifica

La seua carn és molt apreciada.[14]

Estat de conservació modifica

Les seues principals amenaces són la sedimentació i, probablement també, la sobrepesca.[7]
