L'àrea de distribució geogràfica de ''Typha angustifolia'' se superposa amb l'espècie molt similar ''[[Typha latifolia]]'' (boga de fulla ampla). ''T. angustifolia'' es distingeix de ''T. latifolia'' per les seves fulles més estretes i per una clara separació en dues seccions diferents (flors [[estam]]inades a dalt i flors [[pistil]]·lades baix) en els [[capítol floral|capítols florals]].
