In neonatal life, gonadal steroids influence the development of the neuroendocrine hypothalamus. ===Hormone release===

The hypothalamus has a central [[neuroendocrine]] function, most notably by its control of the [[anterior pituitary]], which in turn regulates various endocrine glands and organs. L''''hipotàlem''' és una [[glàndula]] del [[sistema nerviós central]]. Forma part del [[diencèfal]] i està situada en la base cerebral per sota del [[tàlem]], més concretament en la part ventral del tàlem. Per la seva part basal s’uneix a la hipòfisi.
