This image is a derivative of File:Phylogenetic tree.svg which already has the necessary translation. So there's no reason to use it: when a multi-language image is used on a Wiki, it automatically uses the Wiki's default language. Is there another reason you've reverted these edits? Good morning. I understand what you're telling me, but I don't see the image translated: when I click on the image, I get the original version...

Cherkash (discussiócontribucions)

On Commons, there's a drop-down below the image to choose the language. And when it gets embedded in Catalan Wiki, it automatically renders in Catalan. So it all happens automagically.

Try clearing your browser's cache and/or reload the page. It does happen automagically for all users. If you want to ensure specific language, you can also add something like "|lang=ca" (or any other language code instead of "ca") parameter to the image, but it's unnecessary for Catalan Wiki's default language.

Paucabot (discussiócontribucions)

I tried to clear the cache and it still appears in english (when I click on it not on the thumbnail). In other words: it displays correctly in Wikipedia but not in Commons. Is it the expected behaviour?

Cherkash (discussiócontribucions)

Yes, this is correct: in Wiki it displays in the right language right away. On Commons, you have to choose your language from the drop-down menu called "Render this image in" below the image and press "Go" - and then you get your chosen language.

Then, it's not working as easy as it would. Most of our readers will never know it exists such option, so they'll get their image in english and not in catalan.

Maybe when this thing really works automagically, we could change the files ...

Paucabot (discussiócontribucions)

Now I've seen it works as expected if you add |lang=ca. That's a good solution for me.

Cherkash (discussiócontribucions)

Both the thumbnail, and the bigger image when you click once on the thumbnail, appear correctly in Catalan. It's only when you click on the link to go to Commons you can see the image in its default language there (which is English in this case). But this is exactly as expected, because all the languages (more than a dozen!) are embedded in the same image. But it's ok, since only advanced users are expected to go all the way to the Commons – for regular readers all the functionality works as expected and produces the image in Catalan! ;)

Cherkash (discussiócontribucions)

Ok, glad the "lang" switch works better for you. It's unnecessary on most Wikis - but if you prefer it, then be it! Could you please change all the pages to use the multi-language image now?

Paucabot (discussiócontribucions)

I think it's fixed everywhere.

I later saw the problem only appears when you don't have Extension:Media Viewer activated. Is it a known issue?

Cherkash (discussiócontribucions)

I have no idea whether it's a known issue. You may try tracking it down with whoemever supports this extension. Thanks for fixing it everywhere.
