Biografia

Mariusmm/FritzLeiber () va ser un novel·lista i escriptor estadunidenc de ciència-ficció, terror i fantasia. Les seves novel·les van guanyar varis premis Hugo i Nebula.[1]

Biografia

Va néixer el 24 de desembre de 1910 a Chicago, fill d'un matrimoni d'actors d'una companyia que representava obres de Shakespeare. Aquesta professió apareix en algunes de les seves obres. Va estudiar a la Universitat de Chicago on es va graduar psicologia i fisiologia o biologia el 1932.[2][3]

Després va anar de gira amb la companyia teatral dels seus pares i va començar a escriure històries curtes. El 1936 va començar una relació epistolar amb H.P. Lovecraft, qui el "va encoratjar i va influir en la seva literatura" abans de la seva mort el 1937.[4] Va publicar la seva primera història curta "Two Sought Adventure" al número d'agost del 1939 de la revista Unkown.[5]

El 1936 es va casar amb Jonquil Stephens amb qui va tenir un fill el 1938, el filòsof i escriptor Justin Leiber. Del 1937 fins el 1941 va treballar a una editorial com escriptor per l'"American Encyclopedia". El 1941 va traslladar-se amb tota la família a California on va començar a treballar de professor al Occidental College.
