Hemigrammus

Hemigrammus és un gènere de peixos de la família dels caràcids i de l'ordre dels caraciformes.[1]

Morfologia modifica

  • Són de mida petita: entre 3-9 cm de llargària total.[2]

Alimentació modifica

Les espècies d'aquest gènere són principalment omnívores, tot i que n'hi ha d'herbívores.[3]

Hàbitat modifica

Viuen a petits rierols i rieres.[2]

Distribució geogràfica modifica

Es troben a les conques dels rius Amazones i Orinoco.[2]

Costums modifica

Són peixos veloços que neden en moles, la qual cosa els representa diversos beneficis: confon els depredadors, afavoreix l'adquisició d'aliment i augmenten les possibilitats de supervivència dels ous, ja que poden reproduir-se de forma simultània.[4]

Vida en captivitat modifica

Per tractar-se d'espècies petites, molt acolorides, sociables i principalment omnívores, són molt populars en aquariofília.[3]
