Theraps microphthalmus és una espècie de peix pertanyent a la família dels cíclids i a l'ordre dels perciformes.[7][8]

Descripció i reproducció modifica

Fa 25 cm de llargària màxima.[9][10] Els ous són ovalats.[11]

Hàbitat i distribució geogràfica modifica

És un peix d'aigua dolça, bentopelàgic i de clima tropical (26 °C-28 °C),[12] el qual viu a l'Amèrica Central: la conca del riu Motagua al vessant atlàntic de Guatemala[12][13] i Hondures.[12][14][15][2][10][16]

Observacions modifica

És inofensiu per als humans[10] i el seu índex de vulnerabilitat és baix (21 de 100).[17]
