És depredat per Lepidorhynchus denticulatus (Nova Zelanda), Macruronus novaezelandiae (Nova Zelanda), Dissostichus eleginoides, Pterodroma incerta,[3] Arctocephalus gazella (Illes del Príncep Eduard), Arctocephalus tropicalis (Illes del Príncep Eduard)[4] i Aptenodytes patagonicus (Illes Crozet).[5][6]

És un peix marí i d'aigües temperades.[1]
