Morfologia modifica

Alimentació modifica

Menja cucs, crustacis, mol·luscs, eriçons de mar, peixos i ascidis.[9]

Depredadors modifica

Als Estats Units és depredat pel bacallà (Gadus morhua), el llobarro atlàntic ratllat (Morone saxatilis), el tallahams (Pomatomus saltatrix),[10] el tauró gris (Carcharhinus plumbeus)[11] i el solraig (Isurus oxyrinchus).[12][13]

Hàbitat modifica

És un peix de clima temperat i demersal que viu entre 0-388 m de fondària.[8][14]

Distribució geogràfica modifica

Es troba a l'Atlàntic nord-occidental: des de Labrador (el Canadà) fins a Delaware (Estats Units).[8][15][16][17][18]

Costums modifica

És de costums bentònics.[8]

Observacions modifica

És inofensiu per als humans.[8]
