Morfologia modifica

Pot assolir 17 cm de longitud total,[6] encara que la seua mida normal és de 12,3.[7][8]

Reproducció modifica

Té lloc a mitjan primavera.[9]

Alimentació modifica

Tant els joves com els adults mengen larves d'insectes (quironòmids) i microcrustacis (cladòcers).[10][11]

Hàbitat modifica

És un peix d'aigua dolça, demersal i de clima temperat (37°N-36°N).[8]

Distribució geogràfica modifica

Es troba a Nord-amèrica: el riu Barren a la conca del riu Green (Kentucky[12] i Tennessee, els Estats Units).[8][7][13][14][15][16][17]

Estat de conservació modifica

Apareix a la Llista Vermella de la UICN.[18][19][20][21][22]

Observacions modifica

És inofensiu per als humans[8] i la seua longevitat és de 4 anys.[7]
