Descripció modifica

  • Fa 42 cm de llargària màxima i 150 g de pes.
  • És de color marró blavós al dors, d'argentat a blau sutge al ventre i blau sutge a les galtes, els opercles i les membranes branquials.
  • 61-71 espines i cap radi tou a l'aleta dorsal.
  • 3-5 espines i 36-42 radis tous a l'aleta anal.
  • Aleta caudal arrodonida.
  • Aletes fosques.[8][9][10]

Depredadors modifica

És depredat per Atheresthes evermanni.[11][12]

Hàbitat i distribució geogràfica modifica

És un peix marí, demersal (entre 25 i 1.140 m de fondària,[13] normalment entre 300 i 600)[14] i de clima temperat (70°N-33°N, 126°E-121°W), el qual viu al Pacífic nord (des del mar de Bering[15][16] i les illes Aleutianes[17][18] fins a la Colúmbia Britànica -el Canadà-,[19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29] la mar d'Okhotsk,[30][31][32][33] la costa pacífica septentrional del Japó,[34][35][36][37][38][39] la península de Corea[40] i l'illa de Sado -el mar del Japó-)[41] i l'Atlàntic nord (Groenlàndia).[42][43][44][45][5][10][46]

Observacions modifica

És inofensiu per als humans[10] i la seua longevitat és de 8 anys.[8]
