Es troba a Nord-amèrica: el Canadà (les conques fluvials àrtiques des de la Colúmbia Britànica[3][4][5] fins a Alberta),[6] els Estats Units (entre d'altres, Washington,[7] Wyoming, Oregon,[8][9] Idaho, Nevada,[10] Califòrnia, Utah, Arizona, Nou Mèxic,[11] Colorado, Pennsilvània,[12] Illinois,[13] Tennessee,[14] Carolina del Nord i Nova York)[15] i Mèxic (com ara, Sonora, Durango i Zacatecas), incloent-hi les conques dels Grans Llacs d'Amèrica del Nord,[16] Missouri,[17] del llac Bonneville, del llac June i dels rius Snake, Yaqui, Colorado,[18] Gila, Fraser,[19] Columbia,[10][20][21] Missouri, Saskatchewan, Sacramento, Bravo,[22] Sonora, Klamath,[23] Siuslaw, Hudson i Sant Llorenç.[24]

Catostomus bernardini, Catostomus cahita, Catostomus conchos, Catostomus leopoldi, Catostomus microps, Catostomus santaanae, Catostomus snyderi, Catostomus warnerensis i Catostomus wigginsi apareixen a la Llista Vermella de la UICN.[53][54]
